ImageOn a hill, about seven miles from the capital of Kampala, along the route to Uganda's International airport in Entebbe, is the "Africa Prayer Mountain for All Nations."  It is a nice, quiet piece of land that has a natural light forest in which small game still exist (eg, bucks, monkeys, African squirrels, etc).

Africa Prayer Mountain For All Nations is a vision that was given to John Mulinde, birthed through thanksgiving to God for what He did in answering prayers during the troubled years under the regimes of Iddi Amin and Dr. Milton Obote. Prayer Mountain was established in 1999 by World Trumpet Mission, in cooperation with partnering nations, and was officially dedicated to the purpose of unceasing prayer for the nations of the world by Uganda's First Lady, Mrs. Janet Museveni, in January 2001. Visitors from more than 40 nations have already come to pray at Prayer Mountain.

ImageThe vision for this 70-acre venture features three wings: (1) prayer, (2) humanitarian ministries, and (3) income generation to support Kingdom work. Currently, the project has 70 acres, and structures include a central meeting hall and block of offices, a tent village, and a special retreat area for pastors. A hall for intercessors is under construction and missionary training school facilities are in the planning stage.

The programs on Prayer Mountain include daily lunch-hour services and weekly Friday all-night prayer attended by over 500 people from many churches and denominations. Some of these people come in organized groups to spend the night in prayer; these groups are free to hold their prayer separately from the main night prayer. Pastors and leaders, as well as church and intercessory networking groups, come for prayer and retreats.

ImageVisitors can stay in tents for up to 1 week at a time; however, if there is a need to stay longer, permission may be granted upon request from the Prayer Mountain Administration.  Over 300 people per month are regularly using these facilities.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT AFRICA PRAYER MOUNTAIN FOR ALL NATIONS

Everyone visiting Prayer Mountain in Seguku is most welcome, and should register at the Prayer Mountain offices at the time of arrival.

A limited number of tents and mattresses are available to rent at Ush 3500 per night for a shared tent or Ush 5000 per night for a single tent.  If you prefer, you may bring your own. Groups that wish to stay on the mountain overnight should contact Nathan Kibiike in advance, at +256 782 808053 or +256 392 833752. Groups may arrange for one large tent at a lower rate per person. Children are welcome on the mountain during the day, but those under the age of 10 years are not permitted to stay overnight. The maximum length of stay for a person on the mountain is 7 consecutive nights unless the person has obtained permission to stay longer from the Prayer Mountain Administration.

ImageThere are two departments on Prayer Mountain. A chaplain, Br. Richard Okanya, heads the Spiritual Department. An administrative assistant, Nathan Kibiike, heads the Estates Department. Still in process, plans for the mountain include the construction of a fence around the perimeter, payment of squatters, and rehabilitation of the auditorium. If possible, we also desire to contribute to fixing the road coming up to the mountain.

Exciting news!  We are pleased to report the recent construction of two flushing toilets and shower rooms on one wing that is being used to host female visitors, and four flushing toilets and urinals on the other side, which is used to host male visitors.  There is still a challenge is using these facilities, however, in that the water tank that supplies the administrative block cannot reach these wings.

ImageCurrently, there is need for more tents and small mattresses on the mountain. If you would like to donate a tent, a donation of Ush 170,000 (US$90 each) will allow the purchase of one tent.  You also may purchase a tent for the same amount directly from Uchumi stores or Game supermarket in Kampala and donate it to the mountain. Mattresses cost Ush 40,000 (US$21 each).

Well-wishers may also donate money, as well as needed items, including:

  • Mowing machines
  • Fumigating machines
  • Water pipes to help supply the mountain with water from the tank

ImageYou may make your donation directly to the finance office of WTM or to Nathan Kibiike at Prayer Mountain.

May God bless you!
