Session #2: A Time for Tears
"When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven." Nehemiah 1:4
Nehemiah Chapter 1 Take time to silently meditate on the meaning of these Scriptures. Allow the significance of what was recorded to penetrate your heart. How do we respond when we hear of the tragedies in our world. Are we willing to take an active role in intercession and physical action to experience God's Kingdom advance? Allow God’s Holy Spirit to move you to a place of deeper humility and prayer on behalf of the sins in your own sphere of influence. David Wilkerson is well-known for the early years of his ministry to young drug addicts and gang members in New York City in the 1950s and 1960's. Wilkerson co-authored a book about his work with the New York drug addicts as documented in, "The Cross and the Switchblade." This intense and heart-felt audio message has stirred many over the years to a deeper place of prayer. Prayer Time: Take time in prayer (individually or corporately) to pray through your responses to the discussion questions. Review any notes that you took in your journal and allow God’s Spirit to take these truths deeper and deeper into your heart. Believe that He will allow these revelations to become so strong that real lifestyle change results. Let this become your prayer focus for as many days as it takes for these truths to literally begin to produce change in your life.
